The dust has long settled. The public war between representational and abstract art has for the most part abated. The artist need no longer choose a school of thought, or adhere to dogmatic ideals. While flare-ups are sure to occur, the real battlefield is, and has always been, in the artists’ studio.

This diverse selection of artists all come from a shared experience. Trained painters rooted in a classical approach of representation, they have come to find their own means of recording their engagement with the external world. Whether it be painting, drawing, sculpture, abstract, or representational, artists grow through a personal dialogue with their work in their studios. It is through this process of distillation that an artist finds meaning in their work.

REPRESENT: A GROUP EXHIBITION is evidence of that personal investigation.
